Internet Bullies

I am sure that everyone has noticed that there is no shortage of idiots on the Internet. If you are a frequent visitor to sites like YouTube and other chat forums or bulletin boards, you have been annoyed by people who act like they are in the seventh grade. They cannot voice an opinion without resorting to name calling and idiotic, narrow minded comments that make them sound extremely ignorant. I know that these people can be an irritation, but there is a very simple solution.

The solution to dealing with these people is the same solution that can be used to solve many social problems dealing with annoying people. For example; I constantly hear people complaining about drug dealers in their communities. The drug dealers are the an unwanted annoyance in the community just like the idiots online in chat rooms and comment forums. The solution to dealing with these people is the same and it is very simple, yet it does take a little time to work, but it works unfailingly every time. The solution comes from an economic principle. The principle of supply and demand. This is a fail proof solution for getting rid of someone who is ruining things for everyone else. In the case of the drug dealer; they will leave a community where they are not making any money; it is just that simple. If there is no demand, they have to take their product somewhere else or keep trying to switch products or get out of the business all together. The power in this situation resides with the consumer. Power is always in the hands of the consumer if they would simply learn to use some discipline to take back their power.

The problem with the average consumer is that they will not exercise the necessary discipline it takes to stop using a product or stop allowing themselves to be emotionally manipulated by people like the idiots we tolerate on the Internet. Try ignoring the next idiot in your favorite chat room and see if the person does not leave if no one talks to them or responds to anything they say. These people need attention. If you deny them of their fix of attention they will go somewhere else for it. However, you absolutely cannot respond to their antics.

The next time you are getting a little hot under the collar over something that one of those lunatics is doing in your environment, just be patient and use the law of supply and demand. All you have to do is stop supplying these annoying people with the attention they are so desperately seeking and they will go away.
