Any marketing pro who is actually earning their salary knows that the SEO traffic is the most profitable traffic any company’s website can achieve.  Monetization of SEO traffic tends to be double or triple that of referral or direct visits.  It only makes sense that someone actively searching for your company’s wares would be more likely to buy than someone who clicks on ad or link out of boredom or curiosity.

This creates great opportunities for SEO experts.  If you can attract a new client or two a month to a professional services provider such as a lawyer or doctor, that person will reward you handsomely.  After some time, you can set your own price because it will be obvious that your services produce a solid ROI.  One of the most attractive things about this business is that it liberates you.  If ten clients pay you $400 a month to keep their pages on top, it pays a lot of bills.  Add one new client a month at a thousand dollars each, and you can almost make a living.  The best part is that you only need to devote ten hours a week to the maintenance work once you have gotten your clients’ sites to the top.  In other words, once you’re established, you should be making about $400 an hour.

The hard part is establishing yourself in this highly competitive field.  You are good at what you do, and you know it.  So how do you set yourself apart from the pack?

It’s easier than you think.  Get hundreds of pages in the top of the SERPs, at least a few for very competitive keywords.  All you need to do is show your prospect.  Explain that 80 percent of people begin their search for products or services online.  They’re usually ready to hand you a check right there.  Let your results do the talking.

You might be wondering how to get your foot in the door.

That is the easy part.  Hire a virtual assistant for a few hundred dollars a month and task them with nothing but cold calling and setting appointments.  If you are not comfortable with offshoring, place an ad and offer the salesperson a percentage of the take.  Remember that you only need about ten clients.  You can make that many deals in a month.  After that, word of mouth takes over if you are as good at what you do as you think you are.

That’s the important thing:  Be an expert.
